When Duch, the director of Tuol Sleng (or S-21) prison died at the age of 77 in September last year, Youk Chan, the director of the Documentation Center of Cambodia, described his death as “a reminder that justice is a long and difficult process… Perhaps it can bring some satisfaction to the living, and the fallen can now rest in peace.”
